STARY is the Temple Shaarei Shalom youth group affiliated with the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY).
The mission of STARY is to motivate, empower, and facilitate a sense of belonging and identity for Jewish teens in the Boynton Beach area by promoting Jewish learning and providing meaningful social experiences. STARY offers a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that enables a seamless connection to the Jewish community at large.
Members actively support this objective by:
Sponsorship
- Providing opportunities for raising funds to help support TSS initiatives.
- Running the annual Purim Carnival.
- Selling pizza Wednesday nights (between classes).
- Providing scholarship assistance to URJ Camp Jenny.
Religious and Educational
- Conducting special Shabbat and Holiday Services.
- Serving as Madrichim in Religious School.
Social
- Monthly meetings.
- Overnight and travel experiences.
Please note some of these activities permit the student to earn community service hours.
We are especially proud that STARY is a member of NFTY. For almost 75 years, NFTY has offered thousands of young people the opportunity to explore and experience Reform Judaism.
STARY is for students grades 9-12. For grades 6-8, see STARY Jr., and for grade 5, see Club 5.
